SFC Colon, Raymond L. was born in Saint James Hospital in the city of Newark, New Jersey. He graduated from Jose Gautier Benitez High School, Caguas, PR in 1980. That same year he began studies in the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. He graduated in 1992 obtaining two bachelor degree and an associate degree. He has a bachelor degree in Business Administration with a major in Management Information System (BBA) and a Bachelor of Art with a minor in Business Administration (BA) and Associate degree in Applied Science (AAS) and in the present studying a Master Degree in Education in the Turabo University. SFC Colon enlisted in the US Army in 1994. His first assignment was the 84th Medical Detachment, Fort Carson, Colorado. He deployed to Bosnia Herzegovina in Operation Joint Endeavor as a 91G Patien Administration. He was release from active duty in 1998.SSG Colon enlisted in US. Army Reserve in 1999. His Reserve assignments include as a 42A Personnel Administration NCO, with the 338th Finance Battalion, Fort Buchanan, PR, As a Postal Supervisor, 271st Postal Company, Fort Buchanan, PR and BISA(Biometric Identification System Access) NCOIC, 166th Regional Support Group, Fort Buchanan, PR. He is currently assigned as a Human Resources Sergeant with the 166th Regional Support Group, Fort Buchanan, PR.SSG Colon’s deployments include Operation Endeavor Joint (Bosnia), Operation Enduring Freedom, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, 2003-2004; Operation Iraqi Freedom, COB Adder, Tallil, Iraq, 2005-2006; and Operation Iraqi Freedom, COB Speicher, Iraq, 2009-2010. And in 2012 in Ulchi Freedom Guardian UFG-12 in Korea, Camp Gimhae with 166th RSG his awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal with 3 bronze oak leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal with silver oak leaf cluster, Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal with 5 bronze oak leaf cluster, National Defense with two bronze star, Army Expeditionary Forces Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with two campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary
Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with bronze hourglass device and with M device and number two device, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with number two, Army Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon with number 3 device, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, NATO Medal and others. SFC Colon is agraduate of the Primary Leadership Development Course(PLDC) and Advance Leader Course(ALC).SSG Colón is married to Miriam Aponte Vazquez. They have one daughter, Samirca Marie Colón Aponte and two sons,Raymond L. Colón Aponte and Richard Yahmir Colón Aponte. The Colón family calls Caguas, Puerto Rico home.
